Local Climate Partnership Project<\/h1>Building Momentum for Climate Action Through Meaningful Partnerships<\/h3>
Local governments from across Canada have set ambitious goals for deep emissions reductions, made commitments to energy transition, and have an obligation to protect their communities from climate risk \u2014 but they cannot do this alone. Robust, inclusive, and long-term partnerships are required to implement the variety of actions that are required at all scales. The Local Climate Partnership project aims to create cross-sectoral collaborations deemed essential for the advancement of climate action.<\/p>

About the Project<\/h1>
This one-year project seeks to accelerate local climate action across Canada by building foundations for local climate partnerships. This approach, exemplified through the Montreal Climate Partnership, will mobilize action and foster collaboration at the scale and pace necessary to meet the climate challenge.<\/p>
Through the Local Climate Partnership program, participating cities will identify climate priorities based on their unique needs and circumstances, establish an effective governance structure, and set up working groups that will help accelerate the implementation of local climate action. The project will focus on bringing together municipal leaders and community partners to advance meaningful action on climate change.<\/p>

The Montreal Climate Partnership (MCP) has proven itself to be a very effective mechanism to bring together the City and other local actors to mobilize community action towards common climate goals.
