Unlocking Sustainable Development: Incentives for new buildings in small to mid-sized municipalities

Thursday, May 29 | 2:00 to 3:00 pm ET | Online

How can small to mid-sized municipalities use financial and non-financial incentives to encourage more sustainable new buildings? In this Building to Net-Zero Community of Practice, we will explore how planning tools like density bonusing, fee rebates, and recognition programs are being used to move the needle on green development. Join us Thursday May 29 from 2:00 to 3:00 pm ET to hear Lisa Mak from the Community Energy Association share how municipalities are implementing these strategies and ensuring their incentives are effective—all while navigating challenges such as council buy-in and limited staff capacity. After the presentation, participants will move into breakout rooms for a chance to exchange experiences, ask questions, and troubleshoot challenges with their peers.
