Leadership and Legacy: Handbook for Local Elected Officials on Climate Change
This Handbook, developed by ICLEI Canada, aims to help locally elected officials rise to the unique challenge that climate change will bring to their communities. As they are on the front lines, and often the public face of a community’s response to a climate change impact, Mayors and Councillors have a very special role to play when preparing a community for climate change. They can act as Champions by incluencing municipal policy direction at the highest level and supporting policies that enable municipal staff to make strides in reducing greenhouse gas emissions and adaptation to climate impacts. This resource can act as a quick primer on the crucial role that political leadership and the elected perspective play in advancing climate action.
