City of Barrie Adaptation Strategy and Implementation Plan

ICLEI Canada and Lura Consulting provided technical expertise, research, facilitation, and adaptation planning guidance to the City of Barrie to develop its Climate Change Adaptation Strategy. We provided planning guidance on climate projections, risk and vulnerability assessments, action brainstorming a well as designing and executing a stakeholder engagement effort. The process followed Milestones 1 – 3 of ICLEI Canada’s Building Adaptive and Resilient Communities (BARC) program. Following the completion of the Plan, the City continued to work with us to support it in the first stages of implementation. We worked with City staff to create a detailed Implementation Strategy which included critical factors necessary to ensure the ongoing implementation of the Strategy. This work fulfilled Milestone Four of the BARC program and included the creation of Action Specific Action Plans to help guide individual departments in their implementation of the broader Strategy.
