Meeting the Moment and Shaping the Future: Adaptation Canada 2026 Program Announced

Across Canada, communities are navigating change. Climate impacts are intensifying, while pressures related to housing, affordability, health, infrastructure, and local economies continue to grow. We need to act with urgency while considering the long-term implications of a changing climate. Adaptation Canada 2026 is designed to meet this moment.

Building climate resilience is about more than preparing for and responding to the impacts of extreme weather, like flooding, drought, and forest fires—it is about strengthening our communities as a whole. Across Canada, governments, businesses across sectors, and community organizations are creating solutions. Adaptation Canada 2026 builds on this momentum and provides a platform to guide us into the future.

“The challenges facing communities today don’t exist in silos, and neither should our solutions,” says Ewa Jackson, Managing Director at ICLEI Canada. “Adaptation Canada is where people from across sectors come together to learn from one another, build practical partnerships, and turn climate risk into shared, community-led action.”

Dive into Climate-Resilience Across Sectors

We are thrilled to announce the Adaptation Canada 2026 program. Co-designed by adaptation experts from across Canada, the program spans sectors and themes—from infrastructure and housing to health, nature-based solutions, digital tools, and Indigenous knowledge. By intentionally breaking down silos, the conference creates opportunities for participants to learn from different perspectives, discover transferable approaches, and build relationships that extend well beyond the event itself.

Following a national Call for Speakers that generated more than 600 applications, the program brings together diverse perspectives, expertise, and lived experience from across the country. It reflects the depth and momentum of adaptation work underway in Canada. The program includes:

  • 60+ concurrent sessions
  • 3 plenary sessions
  • 8+ study tours
  • Parallel events
  • An exhibition pavilion
  • A project showcase space
  • Over a dozen structured and informal networking opportunities
  • And more!

Every element of the program is designed to support meaningful exchange, practical learning, and cross-sector collaboration.
