The ORCCA Regional Climate Action Symposium was a one-day event designed to bring together project participants, key stakeholders, and collaborators from across the region to engage in meaningful dialogue, share insights, and catalyze action on climate adaptation. This interactive gathering provided a platform to celebrate the achievements and progress made through ORCCA initiatives, explore innovative approaches to addressing climate challenges, and strengthen connections among individuals and organizations committed to climate action.
Panel presentations
Thought leaders in climate adaptation, policy, and community engagement shared inspirational words on how to advance adaptation across the Great Lakes and Ontario, collaboration opportunities, and visions for the future. Panels highlighted several case studies of cross-sector partnerships, firsthand accounts from ORCCA project participants, challenges faced, innovative solutions implemented, and the tangible benefits achieved through ORCCA initiatives.
Equity workshop
This dynamic workshop focused on overcoming barriers that hinder local governments from effectively integrating equity and community engagement into climate change adaptation efforts. This session was designed to advocate for and equip local government partners with actionable strategies and tools to consider equity in various adaptation projects—from policies to programs, and capital investments.
Climate communication workshop
The way we talk about climate action matters, especially when we want to connect with audiences that have different backgrounds, perspectives, and priorities. This breakout session explored how to apply behavioural insights to create effective climate communication strategies that drive meaningful and impactful climate action. Participants were equipped with actionable strategies they can implement within their own communities.
2024-2025 Lookbook
The ORCCA is here to help Great Lakes communities and other Ontario users better understand, cope, manage, and adjust to changing climatic conditions. The 2024-2025 lookbook highlights several different ORCCA projects completed across various sectors, partnerships, and expert subject matter. Discover key accomplishments and outcomes completed through ORCCA’s various collaborative programs.

The Ontario Resource Centre for Climate Adaptation (ORCCA) is a pilot initiative led by ICLEI Canada and supported by the Ontario Ministry of Environment, Conservation and Parks, alongside financial support from the Government of Canada through the federal Department of Environment and Climate Change Canada. ORCCA helps Great Lakes communities and other Ontario users adapt to climate change and build local resilience by providing support to individuals, leaders, municipalities, and communities in their climate action endeavours.
