Advancing Implementation Training Initiative

Advancing Implementation Training Initiative (AITI)

A training and collaboration program designed to tackle challenges and get adaptation actions implementation-ready.

AITI is a comprehensive training and collaboration program designed to support municipalities and Indigenous Communities in the crucial implementation phase of their climate adaptation journey. Recognizing the formidable challenges that lie between planning and execution, this program aims to bridge the gap and help communities achieve their climate ambitions and build toward a resilient future. The program will support staff with personalized assistance through one-on-one meetings, group training, and peer support workshops. Each participating community will identify their specific implementation challenges and work with experts to develop customized project preparation strategies and solutions to move forward faster with implementation.

About the Project

AITI will help identify and address barriers to implementing climate adaptation actions. This initiative provides hands-on support, expert training, and peer-to-peer collaboration to assist Indigenous Communities and local/regional governments overcome implementation challenges. Through AITI, ICLEI Canada will help communities develop tailored strategies for stakeholder engagement, prepare capital and operating budget estimates, incorporate equity considerations into adaptation planning, design progress evaluation frameworks, and access other necessary resources to get prioritized actions implementation-ready. By the end of this project, participating communities will be equipped to fund and implement adaptation actions.

  • Enhancing interdepartmental and community collaboration
  • Advancing data management and reporting
  • Securing funding and resources
